Welcome to Christ Church, Blacklands & St. Andrew, Laton Road, Hastings

Please do make sure to check the website, http://www.blacklands-parish.co.uk/index.html, for news. Quite often there will be news announcements which are too late for the current edition of the magazine and will be out-of-date before the next magazine. A new "Stop Press" banner has been added to the front page of the site which has breaking news and highlights the next planned events.

Material for the website is always welcome. At the moment we are using less than 10% of the available space. I do have some excellent photographs of recent events, which will be put into the new "Gallery" pages very soon. Material on the Sunday School, Mothers and Toddlers and the Home Group would be most welcome. The pages for "Baptisms" will be reinstated soon, with added information for families who wish their children to be baptised and for any adults who have never been baptised and wish to commit their lives to the service of Christ. The "Weddings" pages have been updated with the latest information, as there are new directives from the Archbishop and General Synod which had to be incorporated. Some pictures taken during weddings have been added to a gallery linked to the "Weddings" pages.

There were no responses to the “Guess the location” for the pictures on the pages which were under construction. The European city where the photographs were taken is Bratislava, in Slovakia. The exact location was at the bottom of the steps into the Church of The Holy Trinity, on Hurbanovo Plaza at almost the same spot as this picture at http://www.panoramio.com/photo/46048484. You can have a look at the picture used on the site at the Under Construction Page. This photograph was taken in March 2006, while a new road scheme and underpass were being built, while the Panoramio picture was taken after it was all completed. The easy to spot clue is the Castle, which you can read about at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bratislava_Castle. There are several shop fronts and signs in Slovakian, and if you looked very closely with browser magnification turned right up, on the second photograph, a Bratislava registration plate on a car with an “SK” international mark. Also visible in the same photograph with the Castle is the famous, historic “Kapucínsky Kostol”, originally the Church of The Capuchin Order and now a Cathedral.

Too difficult? There may be an easier one for the next construction phase.
